Maria Elena began singing since she was very young. By the age of 18 years, she was performing with local groups in and around San Antonio area. After a few years she began touring with several bands throughout Texas., and performing as far away as Chicago and other big cities. In 1972, while attending a Church service, that band leader Manny Guerra was conducting, Maria Elena put her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and accepted Him as personal Savior. During the 80's, she and her husband, Jesse Ruiz, pastored a local church for about 6 years. Since that time they have traveled as Evangelist throughout the USA and other countries. She has recorded over thirty recordings during her ministry.
