Manny R. Guerra
A tour of life toward the road of truth is how Manny R. Guerra's life can be described. He is recognized as a pioneer in Tejano Music. Today he dedicates his life and music to God, taking the "Good News" of Jesus Christ throughout the world. His noteworthy achievements in popular music, include the creation of a music industry, namely Tejano Music. The Tejano artists that began their careers in the humble Amen recording studios include: Joe Bravo, Selena Quintanilla, Robert Pulido, Latin Breed, Jimmy Edward, David Marez, Mazz, La Mafia, Shelly Lares, Emilio Navaira, Ricardo Castillon, Culturas, La Tropa F, and many more.
Manny's biggest accomplishments include the famous crossover of Sunny & The Sunglows to the Top 40 charts. Song titles such as "Talk To Me", "Peanuts" (La Cacahuata), "Guess Who" reached high positions on popular music charts in Billboard, Cash Box, and Record World magazines.
From 1959, Manny's life was devoted to his musical obsession. Suddenly, on June 2, 1968, Manny had a spiritual experience. Knowing he had to put all of his confidence in God, the Master's call on his life prompted him to sell his interest in the secular music business. Manny's heart though, fought between his love for music and the spiritual life that God offered. During that internal struggle, Manny successfully started several record labels though he never found satisfaction. Nothing could equal the salvation experience God had given him.
On October of 1996, as Manny was busy working at his computer, his heart once again was troubled. He knew he was committing a mistake by not being obedient to God. "Lord, what do you want of me?", Manny asked. God revealed; it was time to stop vacillating between God and the world. Manny responded by repenting, and asking God to forgive him. He rededicated his life to the Lord. Once again, Acts 3:19 became real in his life... " Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." That very moment God forgave him. Manny felt a burden being lifted from his life as never before, and knew that the Lord would take care of him from now on.
With the confidence and freedom that comes from being forgiven, Manny responded by selling all of his interests in secular music and the entertainment business. He sold his entire secular music publishing company. He released all the artists and songwriters under contract to his companies, giving them an opportunity to relocate. Finally on September of 1997, he sold the record company that made him a success in the music industry, the Manny Music label.
Full of joy with his new life, Manny devotes the rest of his days preaching the Gospel to the lost and helping to edify the believer. According to him, you don't need a church pulpit to preach God's Word. Wherever you go, you have the pulpit of God. Taking the 'Good News' of God to a dying world is the responsibility, the duty, and the privilege, of every person who has received the gift of salvation, through God's only begotten son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
When someone refers to Manny's success in secular music, he is quick to clarify: "God did not call me to be successful, but to be obedient. If I learn to give God first place in my life, not only will I be blessed, but He will give me the capacity to bless others."
Using the gifts and talents that God granted him, Manny follows the path set before him by his Lord and Savior. He is busy recording and producing several Evangelical music ministers, and takes every opportunity to share the Gospel with musicians and others in the entertainment business who come into his studio.
Manny realizes that many of the Bible prophecies are being fulfilled; "there isn't much time" he adds, "Only those who are completely yielded to the Lord will be able to remain faithful until His coming. Surely even those of limited spiritual experience should be able to see that the world is completely out of control." The Bible warns us; "Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon." (Isaias 55:6-7)
Manny shares this spiritual thought. "In the business of secular music, only the emotions of the soul are affected. However, Christian music, anointed of God, is a direct means of ministering to the spirit."
